The annual multi-day competition tests the physical, tactical and technical proficiency of visual information and combat camera specialists across the DoD and participating international competitors. The CALM Co. team has returned from South Africa after Corban and Anele's traditional Xhosa wedding, hosted at Lombardini Lodge in Jeffrey's Bay, SA. The couple legally married in 2018 but due to an Air Force deployment, immigration and a pandemic, they had to postpone the ceremony. The Tactical Artists Project (T.A.P.) is designed to shine a light on creators in the tactical space all while giving back to non-profit organizations that support the community. Corban Lundborg was commissioned by Western Carolina University to create a mural of the Smoky Mountains using recycled materials. The artwork is featured in the entrance of their brand new University Center. Corban's art is a representation of the mountain-scape that surrounds the university. The artwork was created at Corban's home studio in Atlanta, Georgia and then transported up to North Carolina by trailer. He used recycled pallet wood to create the sky, plywood and OSB for the mountains and accented with scrap metal. A re-used sign was mounted in the corner to lead students into the UC. Artist Corban Lundborg works in collaboration with the Dubuque Museum of Art and American Legion Post 6 in Dubuque, Iowa to paint a tribute mural for our nations service members. The mural was painted in conjunction with the Museum's upcoming Vietnam War photography exhibition. Voices Productions teams up with artist Corban Lundborg at their headquarters in Dubuque to bring a new mural to the city. Corban painted a tribute mural to the jazz musician John Coltrane (1926-1967). The new Voices headquarters is located on Central Street in Dubuque, Iowa. Military artist and combat photojournalist, Corban Lundborg, shares his newest project titled "Extra". The series is a visual exploration of the press, propaganda and painting. Corban uses art to dig into WWII era headlines, learning more about our nation's past, hoping to better understand the future. Corban uses a multimedia approach in this series. The panels are made of wood, then covered in paint, adhesive and newsprint, torn out of a book titled "WWII Extra". He then hand painted iconic WWII imagery on top of the print using acrylic paint. Finally, Corban recorded the whole process using a camera and produced a short form documentary about the project (posted above). On 9 July, 2021, Air Force TSgt. Corban Lundborg was awarded his enlisted aircrew wings at the 4th Combat Camera Squadron, Charleston, S.C. Corban completed a series of schools and certifications to qualify for the program. The training includes SERE-C, Underwater Egress, Parachute Survival, Water Survival, Decompression Chamber, Centrifuge and in-house aircrew academics followed by a series of familiarization and qualification flights. The Air Force Combat Camera aerial imagery program qualifies COMCAM Airmen as enlisted aircrew, providing directed imagery for the Department of Defense.
Corban Lundborg participated in the Army's 2021 Spc. Hilda I. Clayton Best Combat Camera Competition (BCCC). The week-long challenge is in honor of Spc. Clayton, who lost her life serving in Afghanistan as an Army combat photographer. Two Citizen Airmen share their journey to the 4th Combat Camera Squadron, JB Charleston, South Carolina. COLD Studio was recently commissioned to paint murals at Team Red, White & Blue's Firebase in Midtown Atlanta. Starting with blank walls, artist Corban Lundborg brought the walls to life through a series of eagle murals in the Crossfit gym. Corban Lundborg shares a look into his new painting series titled "Bomber". He will be creating a collection of hand-painted vintage bomber jackets inspired by WWII Airmen. COLD Studio is expanding into new studio space and new space calls for new goods. Corban has been upcycling furniture from Craigslist to fill the new studio. The metal A-frames and desk were bought for cheap and brought back to life with some sanding, primer and spray paint. Corban and his work will soon be located in Midtown, Atlanta. Artist and explorer Corban Lundborg joins the Pelican Pro Team as a brand ambassador. Pelican cases are a classic in both the military and video production world. As of June 2020, Corban Lundborg packed up and relocated to Atlanta, Georgia after spending three years in Los Angeles, California. The move was inspired by the need for more physical space to continue to grow.

When I enlisted in the military ten years ago, I had no guidance or mentors involved in the process. Although I do not regret my path, I do wish I would have known all of my options. I didn't know there were camera careers until I had been in for almost five years. I receive messages weekly about my career path and how to join a combat camera unit. I'll share below my journey to COMCAM and resources to help the next generation make more informed decisions.
Corban Lundborg completed a series of military survival courses at Fairchild AFB in Spokane, Washington during the month of Feburary 2020. The training included Underwater Egress, Water & Parachute Survival and SERE-C (Survive, Escape, Resistance, Evasion) School. Corban was authorized to bring a film camera to the field portion of SERE School. Equipped with a Holga 120n plastic camera he was able to capture four rolls of Ilford HP5 medium format film. Corban was invited to speak at the Hollywood American Legion committee meeting where he shared a collection of photos captured on his recent deployment to Africa. Post 43 (Hollywood) is made up of many prior and current combat camera service members, including Corban and other Airmen from the 4th Combat Camera Squadron.
